Fredericksburg to Kerrville.

The original plan for today was 26 miles with 1100 feet of climbing.

Somehow that got changed to 33 miles with 1550 feet of climbing and ended up as 33 miles with almost 1900 feet of climbing. How did that happen???

We left on time at 08:30 and took some side roads out of Fredericksburg.

4 kids were enjoying the warmth reflected by this metal shovel.

Dan was pleased to find a road had been named after him.

There was hardly any other traffic.

Now where was that restaurant with the sign that said 'if you kill it, we'll grill it'?

Old shack.

What happened after 2008?

Going up.

The road goes ever on.

We then moved onto a side road which was even quieter.

And a bit more vertical.

I had to get off the negotiate the cattle grid as I wasn't sure I was going fast enough to cycle over it.

I pedalled up there!

These were the first sheep I had seen. I hadn't even seen lamb on any menu.

Leo and Warren enjoying the flat bit.

I doubt it.

We had a nice downhill and I thought it would be like that all the way into Kerrville. How wrong I was.

Holiday Inn Express. Always a very good standard.

My room.

This must be quite a god fearing place, judging by the number of places of worship and the unusual items for sale in locql convenience stores. I opted for the beer!!!

Now, shall I have 2 x 10lb bags or 1 x 20 lb bag. Let me think?

All in all, this has been an excellent day's cycling through the very pleasant Texas countryside. We continue South tomorrow and expect 20mph tailwinds as well as the last 23 of 41 miles being downhill. Can't be bad.
